Presiding the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos, by the presence of members of the government, Members of Parliament, Members of the European Parliament, regional governors, mayors, representatives of institutional bodies, businessmen and a a large number of people,  Attica Regional Governor  and the elected members of the new Regional Council of Attica sworn-in at the Zappeion Hall of Athens

His determination to make Attica one of Europe’s strongest regions, with the citizen of Attica on the premier role, signaled the new Regional Governor fo Attica during his inauguration ceremony at the Zappeion Megaron Hall in Athens, presiding the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Ieronymos.

At the overcrowed Peristyle of Zappeion Hall, in the presence of members of the government, MPs, MEPs, regional governors of Greece, mayors, church representatives, rectors, foreign ambassadors, businessmen and a large number of people, Mr Patoulis stated that “this is the day that Attica makes a New beginning.”

“We will move forward as a new administration with a plan, seriousness and responsibility. We will serve moderation and work with meritocracy and transparency, seeking unity, composition and co-operation,” he said.

“We will help build Greece of tomorrow”

Referring to the choice of the Zappeion Hall for the inauguration ceremony, the new Attica Regional governor underlined the strong symbolism of the place, citing the signing of Greece’s accession to the EEC forty years ago, by  the late prime minister of Greece Konstantinos Karamanlis, when Greece became the 10th member of the European Community.”It is our considered  political choice to hold the ceremony in the place of Athens that corresponds with the European idea, and underlines the new administration’s determination to the extroversion of Attica Region, with the aim of playing a leading role in building Greece of Tomorrow”, the New Attica Regional Governor said .

“We are determined to provide solutions”

In his speech, the new Attika Regional Governor stated that the aim is to treat all 66 Attica Municipalities equally, without political or other divisions, based on the real needs of local communities.

“Citizen comes first”

“Our message is that citizen comes first , so this will be the Region to implement policies that will provide safety and human living conditions to its citizens. Our policies will bring opportunities to all social groups and chances to work and earn decent living wages. We will highlight Culture and History as a dominant element of Attica’s identity. We are emphasizing  on the protection of Public Health, mainly through Prevention and Public Health Communication. And the priority is to strengthen social cohesion and solidarity by extending an effective social protection network to those in need”
