G. Patoulis: “We value the timeless bonds of friendship with the Egyptian people and support every possibility to strengthen and expand our cooperation”
The timeless bonds of friendship and cooperation between Greece and Egypt were confirmed once again during the meeting between the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis, and the Ambassador of Egypt, Omar Amer Youssef.
During the meeting, which took place in a particularly warm atmosphere, Mr Patoulis referred to the importance the strategic relationship of the two countries has acquired due to the global energy crisis, while he praised the contribution of Egyptian culture to world history.
At the same time, the possibility of expanding cooperation at a Regional level was also discussed, and the Ambassador made a proposal for the Twinning of the Attica and Cairo Regions, which will facilitate the development of actions in various fields such as culture and thematic tourism.
The Egyptian Ambassador, on the occasion of the upcoming conference on Climate Change that will take place in early November 2022 in Sharm el-Sheikh, congratulated the Regional Governor of Attica for the great effort being made regarding the recycling and solid waste management programme, expressing Egypt’s interest in this field. On his part, the Regional Governor of Attica pointed out that it would be possible to develop cooperation for the exchange of good practices and know-how in this field.
The Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis, on the occasion of the meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador, pointed out:
“The bonds of friendship and mutual respect between Greeks and Egyptians are imprinted on the History of the two peoples. We must maintain and strengthen these bonds, especially in the critical time we are going through, which poses many and various challenges.”
On his part, the Ambassador of Egypt, Omar Amer Youssef, thanked Mr Patoulis for his warm words, expressing the will to strengthen the relations and cooperation between the two countries and inviting the Regional Governor to the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo that will take place soon.
